1. Respect Other Members
Treat other members with basic respect.
Disagreements are fine. Personal attacks, harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or deliberately targeting another member are not.
Debate the subject, not the person.
2. No Hate Speech or Discrimination
Content attacking or demeaning people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or similar personal characteristics is not permitted.
3. No Personal Information or Doxxing
Do not post another person's private or identifying information without their permission.
This includes real names, addresses, phone numbers, private email addresses, financial information, account information, private conversations, or similar material.
4. Keep Discussions in the Appropriate Forum
Please make a reasonable effort to post topics in the correct section.
Moderators may move topics when necessary. Accidentally posting in the wrong place is not a crime against humanity.
5. No Spam
Do not flood the forums with:
repeated posts
meaningless posts
excessive self-promotion
referral spam
unrelated advertising
automated or bot-generated junk
Merchants and creators are welcome to promote their work in areas specifically intended for advertising, shopping, releases, or merchant showcases.
6. Advertising and Merchant Posts
Commercial posts belong in the appropriate shopping or merchant areas.
Do not repeatedly advertise the same product or business throughout unrelated discussions.
Aurora staff may remove excessive or misleading advertisements.
7. No Scams, Fraud, or Deceptive Content
Do not use the forums to impersonate others, run scams, distribute fraudulent offers, misrepresent products or services, or deliberately deceive community members.
8. Respect Intellectual Property
Do not distribute content that you do not have permission to share.
This includes ripped or stolen:
mesh
textures
scripts
animations
sounds
software
photographs
artwork
commercial products
Discussion about creating, modifying, scripting, or troubleshooting legitimate content is absolutely welcome.
9. No Malicious Software or Exploits
Do not distribute malware, credential-stealing software, destructive scripts, exploits intended to damage grids or regions, or instructions intended primarily to compromise another person's systems or accounts.
Technical and scripting discussions are welcome when they are intended for legitimate development, troubleshooting, security, or education.
10. Keep Support Discussions Useful
When requesting help, provide enough information for others to understand the problem.
When helping someone, remember that people have different levels of experience.
Aurora product support forums may request information such as product versions, error messages, viewer versions, grid information, or configuration details.
Never post passwords, API keys, private authentication tokens, or other credentials.
11. Adult and Explicit Content
Do not post pornography or sexually explicit material on the public forums.
Discussions involving adult-rated virtual-world content may occur when relevant, but keep descriptions and images appropriate for the forum in which they are posted.
12. No Real-World Illegal Activity
Do not use the Aurora Community Forums to facilitate illegal transactions, threats, fraud, exploitation, or other unlawful activity.
13. One Person, Multiple Accounts
Alternate accounts are allowed unless they are being used to:
evade moderation
manipulate discussions
impersonate other users
harass members
artificially inflate votes, reviews, or support for something
14. Staff and Moderation
Moderators and administrators may edit, move, lock, merge, or remove posts and topics when necessary to maintain the forums.
Depending on the situation, violations may result in:
a reminder
a warning
temporary restrictions
temporary suspension
permanent removal from the forums
Serious violations may result in immediate action without prior warning.
15. Do Not Evade Moderation
Do not recreate removed posts, use alternate accounts to bypass restrictions, or deliberately work around moderator actions.
If you disagree with a moderation decision, contact an administrator privately rather than turning the forum into a courtroom drama.
16. Aurora Is a Community
Not every disagreement needs moderator intervention.
People will have different opinions about grids, viewers, products, merchants, creators, building techniques, scripting methods, and virtual-world communities.
Keep disagreements civil and remember that there is usually more than one way to build the same pixel-shaped mousetrap.
17. Rules May Be Updated
These rules may be changed as the Aurora Community Forums grow.
Major changes will be announced when appropriate.
Questions about these rules or a moderation decision?
Contact an Aurora Administrator or Moderator privately.
